A devastating head-on collision occurred on the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Thursday afternoon, resulting in the tragic deaths of two drivers. The crash involving four cars and a bus occurred just before 2 pm.

The horrifying impact was captured on footage, showing a blue hatchback colliding head-on with a Hyundai Accent. The collision briefly launched one of the cars into the air, spinning it 180 degrees before it came to a halt.
The front section of the vehicle was destroyed, with smoke billowing from the crumpled engine. Vision from the scene displayed several heavily damaged vehicles, including two hatchbacks and an SUV. Debris was scattered across multiple lanes, creating a chaotic scene for rescue workers.
Pregnant Woman Among Injured, Minor Injuries Reported
While the two male drivers lost their lives in the crash, two other adults, including a pregnant woman, suffered minor injuries. They were promptly transported to Royal North Shore Hospital for medical care.

Motorcyclist Arrested After Breaching Crime Scene
Adding to the drama, a motorcyclist was arrested for attempting to breach the crash scene. The man allegedly rode his motorcycle through the police roadblock and was stopped by officers on the Harbour Bridge. Footage captured the moment when three police officers pinned the motorcyclist to the ground.
Authorities later revealed that the motorcycle was unregistered and the rider’s license had been suspended. The man was taken to Day Street police station and is expected to face multiple driving charges. One officer suffered minor bruising and grazes during the arrest.
Massive Traffic Delays and City-Wide Disruptions
The crash halted all southbound traffic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge while only one northbound lane remained open. This caused significant delays with traffic backing up as far as the Harbour Bridge and Western Distributor.
Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Howard Collins urged commuters to avoid the area and consider alternative routes, particularly those headed to the Olivia Rodrigo concert at Qudos Bank Arena that evening. By 4:15 pm, two lanes in both directions had reopened, but the crash’s impact continued to cause city-wide traffic disruptions for hours.
